I’m honestly happy for them, despite my skeptical disdain for Musk ( as an executive, at least). But the higher their stock gets, the lower the chance of Toyota — or anyone else — buying them. Which I think is the correct long-term option for society as a whole.

Avoid Twitter today: Check!

I seriously do want Tesla to do well, why shouldn’t we root for an American company..but my god do the fanboys make it difficult at times.

I think, buried in the verbiage yesterday, was the tidbit that “the math doesn’t really work” on the Semi, as predicted. Musk mumbled something about ‘all the batteries’ it would take, and soft-sold the intro date.

I think it finally dawned on them just how many batteries it was going to take to cash the check Musk wrote on this one...

Yeah, I clearly don’t “get” it. Also in the “monster good news” were these tidbits:

1) Unit sales to North America shrunk
2) Overall revenue growth was only 2% over year-prior
3) Margins are nowhere near what were projected, and got incrementally worse
4) Full-year? Still losing roughly a billion per year

5) And, by the way, in 2020 they’ll ship (finally) the 500K shipments originally planned in 2017 for 2018.

And the market it loved it all.  Go figger.

I think the market expected it to be worse. So if you’ve already priced for very bad news, getting just regular bad news is good news.

Of course I have my doubts Tesla is really priced right for very bad news, but that’s a different argument.

Wow. Yeah. That’s a great point.

Basically they made good on the promises originally projected for 2017... Praise The Lord!  They finally hit a number when the market figured they were due for an “Elon Quarter” and the market loved it.

Yeah.  I’ve stopped actually trying to guess what they’ll do next.  It’s only entertainment at this point.
